Curiosity shapes creativity

A few days ago, I walked into a FabIndia store, drawn in by its vibrant display of handcrafted textiles, as I wandered through, my attention went on a linen-finish (similar to Khadi fabric) window curtain, something about it paused me there the way light filtered through its delicate weave, casting soft, diffused shadows, the organic texture invited a handwoven connection, a quiet moment of appreciation.

That moment stayed with me, it made me reflect on how design is more than just aesthetics or function, it’s about evoking a response, a feeling, as a designer, I’ve learned that curiosity is what transforms passive observation into meaningful insights. By paying attention to what naturally draws us in, we start to uncover patterns why certain materials feel more inviting, how light influences perception, or why texture creates a sense of warmth.

This curiosity-driven approach has guided me throughout my career, shaping how I craft digital experiences, whether it’s designing an intuitive interface or reimagining how users interact with AI, the same principle applies: follow the details that spark interest, and they will lead to deeper, more human connections in the design.

Whether it's the light through fabric, the rhythm of a city street, or the way a conversation flows, pause. Let our curiosity guide us, it might just lead to our next breakthrough.
